Validation


Task 1

Set up the following validation in the example database (shared area 'Validation')

Firstname -    Length check -     10 characters maximum
Surname -      Presence check - Required
Data Joined - Range check -      between 01/01/09 & 31/12/10
Supervisor -  Existence check - must exist in Employee table



Task 2

Complete the design sheet for the product table

1. Validation routines are used to improve the quality of data input. Identify three types of validation routine that might be used and explain what type of errors they are designed to trap. (6)
